The spirit of adventures is not dead…. 2 presentations over two weeks at WMRTS base are a testamant to that….
The first is a film of exploration and travel ….
In 2010 Steve Burgess and Nicky Spinks went to Colombia in search of the “Lost Raspadura Canal” – which they found!
The following year Steve, Nicky and Andy Heading of RaceKit took inflatable canoes to Colombia to try and retrace the remarkable 700 km voyage on Colombian rivers that cocao beans would have taken from the Atlantic to the Pacific crossing the watershed by using the still intact Raspadura Canal. This is the film of that adventure!
Details can be found here: River of Chocolate
Further details of Nickys exploits can be found on her website www.runbg.co.uk/
The second event is a presentation by multiday endurance specialist Amanda and Andy Heading of RaceKit
The evening will start with a presentation from Amanda and Andrew on “Training, preparation and competing in a Multi-day event”.
After Q/A’s we will then break for food. This will be followed by a talk by Nicky and Charmian on the Dragon’s Belly covering route, organisation, accommodation, kit etc.
The cost of both these events will be just £5 payable on the door before each talk.
All the proceeds will go to Woodhead Mountain Rescue Team.
Drinks and refreshments will be available.
